Where to get the best breakfast in Warsaw

There is a saying that goes

Eat breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince,

and dinner like a pauper.

Adelle Davis

I, personally, like to eat all my meals like a king (and the scale can attest to that), but breakfast is definitely my favourite meal of the day. So when I go traveling, what better way to start the day than a delicious treat?

In Warsaw, there were three in places in particular that fulfilled by breakfast needs:

1. Etno Cafe

A great assortment of freshly baked goods greet you when you walk into Etno Cafe. In the back, you might even be able to spot one of the staff putting together freshly made sandwiches.

Looking at the variety of treats in store made me wish that I could be there every morning so that I could eat a new one with each visit.

A triple threat: great atmosphere, beautiful interior design, and good food.

Etno Cafe has a soothing atmosphere that creates a peaceful environment to work on a project or relax with friends for hours.

I went for an Americano and some pancakes on my first visit. The pancakes came with fresh fruits and a side of sour cream and what tasted like strawberry jam (perhaps mixed with another fruit).

But my favourite drink of all was the Earl Grey Iced Tea. The sweetness of the iced tea, paired with the calming bitterness of the Earl Grey was soothing to the core.

One thing that I would note is that, if you come first thing in the morning, they may not have change for you and you will be unable to purchase anything to eat. I only had a 100PLN bill (~$25USD) on me, but they did not have any change for that so I could not purchase a meal on one of my visits.

2. AiOLI Cantine

AiOLI offers a buzzing atmosphere where there is never a dull moment.

This wouldn’t be the place you would come for quiet eating or to work on a school project, rather, it is a place to converse and laugh with your friends.

Buzzing with life, AiOLI is the place to be to get re-energized.

We went to AiOLI on our first morning in Warsaw. The line up was long and the inside busy, so I was quite curious what it would offer us.

Although the service itself wasn’t what I would consider top-notch (though that could have been due to the sheer crowd of people there), the food itself was delicious.

Looking at the menu, a warm drink caught my eye: their pumpkin spice latte.

It was just the kind of warm drink I needed to feel cozy on a cold winter day. The spices giving it a little extra kick to make it a delicious blend.

As my main meal, I ordered their Sausage & Eggs breakfast. Though simple, it was exactly what I wanted. There were no extremely contrasting flavours, everything came together quite beautifully.

3. Charlotte

We walked in, a bit wet from the rain, and excited to finally be somewhere that promised us some warmth and comfort.

We were greeted by a very kind waiter who showed us to our table and gave us some English menus to browse.

Sandwiches, desserts, assortments of breads, and more – what to choose?

A soothing atmosphere that makes you wonder: “am I still in Poland or have I been transported to France?”

I chose the breakfast that came with an assortment of breads, spreads, some eggs, and a hot drink of choice – and I would highly suggest you try the same.

The breads were warm and delicious, and paired with the spreads were absolutely amazing.
